UDC Develops World’s Thinnest OLED Display
One of the main features of OLED display is its thinness, many companies have shown OLEDs one tenth the thickness of any display technology used today. iPhone Sales Surpasses BlackBerry; Apple Becomes 3rd Largest Mobile Phone Maker Based on Revenue
Apple today announced that they sold 6.9 million iPhone in the quarter that ended in September. iPhone 3G sales surpassed RIM’s total sales of 6.1 million units in last quarter. Year-over-Year iPhone grew more than 500 percent from 1.1 million in September quarter last year to 6.9 million this year. Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO said, “RIM is a good company that makes good products. Beating them is remarkable.” The increase in iPhone sales makes Apple the second largest smartphone maker behind Nokia. Motorola Introduces Ultra High End AURA Mobile Phone
otorola has unveiled new ultra high-end “AURA” mobile phone that was inspired by luxury watches and handcrafted design. Motorola says the handset is made with more than 700 individual components of which 200 high precision parts are used in engineering rotating mechanism for the front plate. Apple Posts $1.14 Billion Profit in Fourth Quarter Results
Apple today announced financial results for its fiscal 2008 fourth quarter ended September 27, 2008. The Company posted revenue of $7.9 billion and net quarterly profit of $1.14 billion, or $1.26 per diluted share. These results compare to revenue of $6.22 billion and net quarterly profit of $904 million, or $1.01 per diluted share, in the year-ago quarter. Gross margin was 34.7 percent, up from 33.6 percent in the year-ago quarter. International sales accounted for 41 percent of the quarter’s revenue. Read More

Asus Announces Four New Full HD LCD Monitors
Asus has introduced four new LCD monitors that will ship by end of October. The monitors will be available in two sizes 25.5-inch and 24-inch. The 25.5-inch display will come in two models VK266H and VW266H with 16:10 aspect ratio and 1920 x 1200 resolution, where as the 24-inch models VK246H and VW246H will come in 16:9 aspect ratio and 1920 x 1080 resolution. Intel Shows Working MID Based on Moorestown Chipset
Intel today showed the first working prototype device based on Moorestown chipset. The new chipset is designed to be more efficient for use in Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs) and ultra mobile PCs. Intel has achieved the increase in performance and efficiency by using 45 nanometer manufacturing process and redesign of the core processor.
