Till now Samsung has been Apple’s manufacturing partner for production of their A4 and A5 application processors. However, for their next generation A6 processor Apple has partnered with TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) to take advantage of their new 28nm process technology and to decrease Apple’s dependence on Samsung for major component.

According to a website Apple ‘N’ Apps, Apple is planning to introduce two distinct models at a special event soon. The first phone will be the rumored iPhone 5 with thinner design, A5 processor, Qualcomm GSM/CDMA chip and bigger screen. And the second phone will combine iOS 5 and iCloud with a new hardware that is internally known as iCloud iPhone at Apple. To decrease the cost of iCloud iPhone Apple will use less Flash storage and depend on iCloud, as well as replace the more expensive glass back panel with curved Aluminum back like the iPad 2.

Apple updated the MacBook Air lineup with second-generation Intel Core i5/i7 processors, Thunderbolt port, backlit keyboard and Mac OS X Lion in July. The 11-inch MacBook Air models got the most performance boost from this update offering over 2.5x performance improvement over previous generation model. The 1.6 GHz 11-inch MacBook Air is available in two models, one with 2GB of memory and 64GB of flash storage for a suggested retail price of $999, and one with 4GB of memory and 128GB of flash storage for $1,199. Configure-to-order options available are 1.8GHz Core i7 processor ($150) and 256GB Storage ($300) for the top-of-the-line model.

Earlier today, MacRumors posted renders of iPhone 5 (image above) based on leaked case design specifications. The rendering showed an iPhone 5 that is 0.27-inch thick at the top and 0.21-inch at the bottom compared to 0.37-inch on current model, and is wider by 0.05-inch, but shorter by 0.17-inch. It also showed a 4-inch screen with redesigned Menu button.

According to Apple the new Air offers twice the performance of the previous generation while maintaining the same compact design. The 13-inch MacBook Air with 1.7GHz Core i5 processor comes in two configurations, one with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage priced $1,299, and one with 4GB RAM and 256GB storage priced $1,599. Configure-to-order option offers 1.8GHz Core i7 processor upgrade for top-of-the-line model.
