Samsung Launches Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus

Not to be out done by Amazon’s Kindle Fire announcement this week, Samsung has launched their new tablet Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus. The Android 3.2 (Honeycomb) based tablet features a 7-inch screen, weighs 345g (0.76 pounds) and is just 9.96mm (0.39-inch) thick, making it both thinner and lighter than Kindle Fire that weighs 0.91 pounds and is 0.44-inch thick.

What’s Apple big iPhone announcement on October 4th is the question on everyone’s mind. And the debate was again reignited today by the news that China Unicom’s research vice president, Huan Wenliang who spoke at Macworld Asia 2011 keynote speech said “iPhone 5 will support W-CDMA based high-speed data transfer standard HSPA Evolution HSPA+”. Samsung Unveils First 4gb LPDDR3 Chip, New 1.5GHz Exynos Chip and Faster 64GB NAND Chip

Samsung announced few new chips aimed at smartphone market including first low power DDR3 RAM, Exynos 4212 ARM processor, 64GB embedded NAND chip, 16-megapixel CMOS camera sensor and 1.2-megapixel webcam. Samsung says the new 4gb (512MB) low power DDR3 chip is first of its kind and is built using 30nm process technology. It is 60% faster at 1.6Gbps data transfer rate while consuming 20% less power than LPDDR2 RAM. Samsung will start sampling the new LPDDR3 RAM in fall with devices based on the new chip coming to market in first half of 2012. Samsung plans to ship 2GB version on the chip in 2012.

Nikon has introduced their new Nikon 1 camera brand that will join existing Nikon D-series digital SLR cameras and the CoolPix brand of compact digital cameras. Nikon says “The name for this new system, Nikon 1, came from the idea of developing a completely new camera system that would be a leader in the digital age by starting from nothing, or "0", and giving birth to "1".” Though Nikon claims that Nikon 1 started from nothing and is a completely new camera system, the fact is mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras from Sony, Olympus and Panasonic forced Nikon to give birth to their new “1” brand.

NVIDIA Reveals More Info About Upcoming Quad-Core Kal-El Chip, Which will have Five Cores

NVIDIA has released two whitepapers titled “The Benefits of Quad Core CPUs in Mobile Devices” and “Variable SMP – A Multi-Core CPU Architecture for Low Power and High Performance”. In the first whitepaper NVIDIA talks about the same old benefits of quad-core processor and how quad-core Kal-El uses less power than dual-core processors while doubling performance across the board, as you can see in the video below. Image of iPhone 5 Mainboard Leaked and J.P. Morgan Analyst Claims Two iPhones Coming

Chinese website Weibo has posted an image showing a mainboard with A5 processor on it. The website claims that the mainboard is for the next generation iPhone 5 and it does looks very different from iPhone 4 and iPad 2 mainboards. The image shows a 1430mAh battery, up slightly from 1420mAh on iPhone 4 and a wider mainboard than the one on iPhone 4, which would need a wider iPhone design, as has been rumored about next generation iPhone 5.
