Live Coverage: WWDC 2009 Keynote on June 8th at 10am PST

  • That's it from WWDC 2009 keynote.
  • Phil is now recapping the keynote and he is thanking at Apple for their hard work.
  • Apple shows a new ad for iPhone 3GS
  • iPhone 3GS will ship on June 19th. the 16GB model will be priced $199 and the 32GB model will be priced $299. The present 8GB iPhone 3G will now ship for only $99.
  • Battery life on iPhone 3Gs has improved slightly.
  • There will be hardware encryption and it will offer instantaneous data wipe, data in iTunes will also be encrypted.
  • Like rumored the phone will include Nike+ support.
  • The phone will include a built-in digital compass that will integrate with Maps and new Compass app. The new Accessibility settings bring VoiceOver feature to the iPhone.
  • Voice Control will be available for various iPhone functions like playing music on the iPod.
  • iPhone 3Gs will also include Voice Control. Just hold down the Home button and say "call Scott (or any other name in your address book)" to make a call.
  • You can edit the video on the iPhone itself and then send MMS or post it online.
  • The new iPhone will also capture video at 30fps in VGA with autofocus, auto white balance and auto exposure.
  • iPhone 3GS features a 3-megapixel autofocus camera with autoexposure. He shows some brilliant pictures take by new iPhone camera.
  • Phil says that this is the fastest iPhone ever and it support OpenGL and 7.2Mbps HSPA connection. It is 2.1x faster for messaging, 2.4x faster in Sim City and 2.9x faster for browsing.
  • Phil announces the new iPhone 3GS where S stands for speed.
  • He says to call iPhone 3G a hit would be an understatement. he shows a graph of mobile browser usage with iPhone have more than 65 percent share.
  • Phil is back on stage.
  • So the demos are over. iPhone OS 3.0 will be free for all iPhone customers and $9.99 for iPod touch owners. It will ship on June 17th and Scott leaves the stage.
  • Line 6 and Planet Waves will do the final app demo and hopefully we will see the new iPhone after that.
  • Pasco, another developer shows a science app. Apple show us the new iPhone.......
  • They are demoing Star Defense their new game.
  • Another game developer ngmoco is on the stage now.
  • Tom Tom will also release a docking accessory for the iPhone this summer.
  • The application provides turn-by-turn navigation with a female voice. the interface is similar to most Tom Tom GPS units.
  • This one is interesting Tom Tom is developing navigation software for the iPhone.
  • Show us the new iPhone Apple.
  • Apps demos for iPhone 3.0 software are impressive, but boring.
  • Now developers are showing their Apps using the new iPhone OS 3.0. Gameloft is first.
  • Apple will allow developers to build turn-by-turn apps in iPhone OS 3.0. Apps can now embed Google Maps directly and use the Maps for navigation.
  • Scott says that these are only few of the features in iPhone 3.0 software, Apple has added more than 1000 new APIs to the software that will being many new features to the phone.
  • iPhone 3.0 will have Find My iPhone feature that will allow you to find a misplaced or lost iPhone by simply logging in to your MobileMe account.
  • Safari on iPhone 3.0 runs JavaScript almost 3 times faster and it also support HTTP streaming audio and video. Safari will have autofill and full HTML 5 support including audio/video tags.
  • iPhone 3.0 will support Tethering over USB and Bluetooth. no software is required once it is turned on through the carrier. 22 carriers will support Tethering in 44 countries.
  • Next it's iTunes, and yes you will be able to rent and purchase movies right from your phone with iPhone 3.0.
  • Like Mac OS X, iPhone will also get Spotlight for searching anything on you phone.
  • Next feature in iPhone 3.0 is MMS and AT&T will be ready to launch it by end of Summer.
  • He says that copy and paste won't be a superficial feature but will include shake to undo, developer APIs and Cocoa touch support for text.
  • Scott now talks about the cut copy and paste feature in the iPhone.
  • He is showing a video that shares stories of various developers.
  • Scott is on the stage, he says more then 50,000 apps are available on App Store now. and Apple has sold more than 40 million iPhone and iPod touch in past two years.
  • Now is iPhone's turn.
  • Family pack will be priced $49. Snow Leopard will ship in September.
  • Snow Leopard will be available for all Intel Macs and it will be priced just $29.
  • There are some nice features that Apple has added to Exchange. Like you can drag a contact out of address Book and directly into a calendar to create an event.
  • Exchange support is next on the list. Snow Leopard will have built in Exchange support for Mail, Calendar and Address Book. he is now demoing exchange implementation in Mac OS X.
  • After Grand Central its OpenCL's turn, he is talking about how Apple has made it an open standard and all the top graphics card manufacturers are going to support it.
  • The next topic is multi-core CPU and the new Grand Central technology that will give built-in support for multiple threads.
  • Now Apple is talking about full 64-bit architecture in Snow Leopard and how it will give memory limit of 16 billion GB.
  • He is again talking about QuickTime and how it is designed to to put video on the center stage.
  • In the Demo, Apple is now showing new Expose feature with Safari and Mail, full history search in Safari.
  • He now shows QuickTime which now supports hardware acceleration, ColorSync and HTTP streaming. Now he is demoing the new QuickTime player.
  • Snow Leopard will bring handwriting recognition for trackpad. Safari 4 adds a new feature that will keep the browser window intact even if a plugin crashes. you just reload the page again.
  • Snow Leopard will install 45 percent faster. and it will be half the size of pervious OS.
  • Snow Leopard will bring Expose to the Dock. when you click and hold on an app it automatically zooms out your active windows.
  • They are talking about various new technologies that Apple has added to Snow Leopard. However they haven't changed the finder. it will remain the same.
  • Now Phil is talking about Mac OS X Snow leopard and makes fun of Windows Vista/7... calling Windows 7 same old Vista.
  • The Air will have two standard configs 1.86GHz with 120GB hard drive for $1,499 and 2.13GHz with 128GB SSD for $1,799.
  • Apple is also dropping the price of MacBook Air from $1,799 to $1,499.
  • Two models her 2.26GHz with 2GB RAM and 160GB hard drive for $1199 and 2.53GHz with 4GB RAM and 250GB hard drive for $1,499.
  • Now the 13-inch MacBook will join the MacBook Pro lineup with up to 8GB RAM and standard backlit keyboard, the starting price will be $1199.
  • There will be three standard configs - $1,699 with 2.53GHz and 4GB RAM, $1,999 with 2.66GHz and 4GB RAM and $2,299 with 2.8GHz processor. The 17-inch model also sees a price drop now it will be $2,499.
  • At last Apple has also added a SD card slot to MacBooks. The new MacBook Pro will have up to 3.06GHz Core 2 Duo processor, up to 8GB RAM and up to 500GB hard drive or 256GB SSD. and the starting price is just $1,699.
  • The 15-inch Macbook Pro uses the same battery that Apple introduced in 17-inch model earlier this year. it will give 7 hours battery life and up to 5 years of life for typical user.
  • Now Phil is talking about unibody MacBook. He announces a brand new version of 1-inch MacBook Pro.
  • He says that in just two years Mac OS X user base has tripled.
  • He starts with Mac OS X, shows a growth chart of Mac OS X over last 10 years.
  • He talks about WWDC plan and attendance, calling WWDC 2009 the biggest ever.
  • Phil Schiller is on the stage greeting everyone.

  • What will be Apple's big surprise today new iPhone models, updated laptops or a tablet?

Apple announced in May that Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, would lead this year’s keynote. It has been rumored that Steve Jobs might make an appearance at the keynote, which is highly unlikely. We will do the live coverage of WWDC 2009 keynote at live.techztalk.com.
It is believed that Apple will showcase Mac OS X Snow Leopard along with iPhone OS 3.0 at the keynote on Monday. It is also rumored that Apple will announce that next generation iPhone models at the event. We have added links to the latest iPhone rumors below:
