Live Coverage Apple Media Event (iPad Mini Event) October 23 10AM PST / 1PM EST

  • He says it has been an incredible year for Apple. And is now thanking all of the teams at Apple. 
  • Tim is back on stage and is talking about the products announced during the last two months.
  • The 32GB will be priced  $429 and 64GB will be priced $529 and the cellular version will add $129 to the cost.
  • The iPad mini will come for $329 for 16GB model.
  • Apple is playing the introductory iPad mini video.
  • iPad mini features dual core A5 chip, 720p HD camera, 5-megapixel iSight camera, LTE, WiFi n, Lighting connector and 10 hours battery life.
  • Phil is now comparing iPad mini to Nexus 7 tablet. And showing why Apple selected 7.9-inch screen compared to 7-inch on Nexus.
  • Phil says that its great for all the applications that work on bigger iPad.
  • The mini has 7.9-inch screen and has 1024 x 768 resolution.
  • It is 7.2mm thin and weighs 0.68 pounds. It comes in black and white colors.
  • Apple is also introducing the new iPad mini.

  • It has the new A6X processor that has double the performance of A5X chip. And a new LTE chip for more coverage around the world. It also has 2X faster WiFi and lighting connector.
  • Apple is introducing 4th generation iPad just 6th months after iPad 3.

  • Apple is announcing a new version of iBook Author with many new features.
  • He says that iBook textbooks are now available for 80% of US high school curriculum.
  • Now he is talking about iPad in education. And says that the iPad has been the real game changer in education.
  • Tim is back on the stage and is now talking about tablets, and says that over 90% of web traffic is generated by iPads.
  • It doesn't have Optical drive. The 21-inch iMac will start at $1299 and the 27-inch iMac will start at $1799. The 21-inch will come with 2.7GHz Core i5 processor and 1TB hard drive, while the 27-inch will come with 2.9GHz quad core Core i7 processor and 1TB hard drive.
  • It comes with Intel Core i5 and i7 processor, NVIDIA graphics, up to 3TB hard drive or 768 Flash storage or Apple fusion drive. Fusion drive combines 128GB flash drive with 1TB or 3TB hard drive offering best of the both world.

  • Now Mac mini, It is the smallest and most affordable Mac.

  • The 13-inch MacBook Pro starts at $1699 and features 128GB storage, 8GB RAM and Core i5 processor.
  • The internal hardware is completely redesigned. It has dual core i5 or i7 processor, upto 768GB storage, Intel graphics, 802.11n WiFi and 8GB RAM.
  • It has all the ports found on 15-inch model. The new 13-inch Pro also has the same IPS display as the bigger model.

  • The new version of iBooks is available for download today.
  • Tim talking about iBook. He says it is the most gorgeous way to read books. And today Apple is announcing  new version of iBooks that is better integrated with iClouds.
  • Tim now talking about iCloud, iMessage, Game Center.
  • Over 200 million devices are running iOS 6. Tim says that this is the fastest upgrade ever in the history.
  • Now talking about new iPods. Apple has already sold over 3 million new iPods.
  • He starts with update about iPhone 5. Apple sold 5 million units on launch weekend, he says this is the most phones ever sold in a weekend. Now showing a video of the iPhone 5 launch.
  • Tim cook is on stage. And welcomes everyone.
  • We are in the hall. It looks more like drama theater than an Apple event venue.

It is jam-packed here at California Theater in San Jose. It looks even more crowded than usual.
Apple is hosting their second media event in less then 2 months and the rumors are it will be another big one. It is rumored that Apple will not only announce the new iPad mini at the event, but will also showcase the 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro, new iMac design and Mac mini.
