Onkyo Launches Two A/V Receivers and Two Home Theater Systems

Onkyo announced four new home entertainment products, consisting of two THX certified receivers and two home theater systems. The two receivers TX-SR806 and TX-SR706 come with THX Loudness Plus audio processing technology for improved low volume listening. NVIDIA Launches Five New Laptop Graphics Cards

Yesterday, NVIDIA announced GeForce 9800M and 9700M series Graphics cards for laptop. The 9800M series have three cards 9800M GTX, 9800M GT and 9800M GTS. The top of the line GTX card uses G92 core with 500MHz frequency and 112 shaders each running at 1250MHz. It is capable of 420 gigaflops and has 256-bit memory interface. Virginia Tech Announces Mac Pros Based Supercomputing Cluster

Virginia Tech announced that it has installed a new Mac based supercomputing cluster that uses 324 Mac Pros operating as servers. The computers are networked together via a 40Gbps copper LAN connection. Each Mac Pro has eight cores bringing the total number of cores in the cluster to 2,592. According to the latest data from Gartner, worldwide PC shipment reached 71.9 million units in second quarter of 2008, a 16% year-over-year increase. HP continued to maintain it No.1 position with 18.1 percent market share, followed by Dell with 15.6 percent market share. Acer came in third with 9.4 percent share. Matsushita is Developing a Light Emitting Device 50 Percent More Efficient Than Conventional LEDs

Matsushita Electric Works and Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology are developing a prototype light-emitting device that is more efficient and smaller than conventional LEDs. The device uses 5nm or smaller nanosilicon to create a ballistic electron discharge into xenon gas. Although, almost a week is left before the iPhone will be available, a line of around 10 people has started forming near the Apple Store on 5th Avenue in New York City. The Apple store security and employees have confirmed that the line was for the iPhone 3G. Chairs and other apparel make it clear the early visitors are there for the seven-day wait. I won’t mind standing in line for few hours for the new iPhone 3G, but 7 days is just too much for me.

Apple sets July 7th as Application Submission Deadline for iPhone App Store

Apple has emailed the iPhone developers letting them know the last date for submission of their application to the App Store for inclusion on the App Store launch day. The email states:
“Have you application be among the first available when the App Store goes live. To ensure your application can be considered for exciting launch of the App Store, submit your application by 12 PM PDT, on July 7, 2008. We will continue to accept applications after this time, however your application may not be available until after launch of the App Store.”
It look like Apple will launch the App Store the same day it ships the iPhone 3G on July 11, 2008.
